AOTM #2: French Flat
Hello!
Get ready for a new Apartment Of The Month! This time we're in NW London. I'll show you a charming and cosy house. The bedroom has a cool detail (a sort of hole in the wall) and the rest of the house is very well finished. I also like the colours, it's daring to use black that much. But it's not making all the rooms darker, indeed, it gives an edgy alluring feeling. I love it, I want to buy it, I want to live in it! What about you? Don't tell me I'm the only one with those feelings! ;-)

Live report: Saybia
Een half jaar lang lagen ze opgeborgen in de kast, de kaarten voor het concert op woensdag 2 november 2011. Ik heb het natuurlijk over Saybia! Eén van de mooiste en beste bands aller tijden. Gisteravond was het dan ein-de-lijk zover! Man, wat heb ik uitgekeken naar deze dag!
Het begint allemaal in 1993. De band wordt opgericht in de Deense plaats Nyborg door zanger Søren Huss en de toenmalige band, Jeppe Knudsen, Palle Sørensen en Thomas Dahl. Thomas verlaat de band en er komen 2 nieuwe muzikanten bij. Van 1993 tot 2001 bracht Saybia een aantal EP's uit. Maar in 2001 worden ze ontdekt en tekenen een platencontract bij EMI. Een jaar later (2002) verschijnt hun debuut album: "The Second You Sleep" met grote hits als The Day After Tomorrow, Fools Corner en The Second You Sleep. Dan gaat het hard. Ze worden meerdere malen gedraaid op de radio, spelen op grote festivals en lijken naast Nederland en Denemarken ook Belgie, Noorwegen, Zweden en Finland te veroveren. In 2004 verschijnt: "These Are The Days" met misschien wel de grootste hit I Surrender. In 2007 brachten zij hun laatste studioalbum uit: "Eyes On The Highway" waarvan Angel de single wordt. In 2008 gaat de band door een moeilijke periode en last een pauze in. Maar in 2010 pakken ze de draad weer op, gaan op tournee en zijn bezig met een nieuw album.
Dat is een beetje het verhaal achter Saybia, nu alles over het concert van gisteravond! We waren heel erg vroeg (nog voor achten geloof ik) en toch stond er een gigantische rij! Het was uitverkocht (meer dan verdiend natuurlijk) en iedereen stond te popelen om naar binnen te gaan. Ik stond op het punt om het allermooiste concert ooit mee te maken! Ik was zo blij dat we helemaal vooraan stonden, zo beleef je een concert pas echt goed en is het voor mij het helemaal waard. Ze speelden veel nieuwe nummers wat natuurlijk weer heerlijk in het gehoor lag. Ik zelf vind het derde album het beste dus ik vond het wel jammer dat ze daar weinig nummers van speelden. Toch maakten Romeo en Walk in the Park (die op dat album staan) ontzettend veel indruk op me. Wat ik misschien het allermooiste vond was Unknown, het laatste nummer (tevens langste, lees: 17 minuten!) wat was dat geweldig! Ik vond het heel leuk dat Saybia net zo intens genoot van dit optreden als wij. Er hing een heerlijke sfeer en iedereen stond te genieten. Het geluid was perfect, de muzikanten (vooral de gitarist) waren geweldig en alles klopte gewoon. Ik moest even weer met beide benen op de grond gezet worden toen het afgelopen was. Voor mij hadden ze de hele nacht door mogen spelen!
Als ik nu een nummer van Saybia op mijn iPod hoor zie ik al die beelden weer voor me. Het heeft enorm veel indruk op me gemaakt en ik denk er met veel, heel veel plezier aan terug.
Als laatste, dan sluit ik deze blog af.. open je hart voor Saybia en zoek ze op live. Dat zijn ze dubbel en dwars waard! Ik eindig dan ook met (voor mij) de allermooiste nummers. *tip: hou zakdoekjes bij de hand ;-)

November time!
Hello bloglovers!
It's officially November and that means only 2 months left untill 2012 starts. I turn 20, my internship will end and I'm going to 3 concerts of the best bands ever!
To begin with band number 1: Saybia (November 2, Patronaat Haarlem) Saybia is one of the best bands of the zeroes. It's so different than other bands. The lyrics, the bombastic melodies.. it hits you. We have these tickets for months and now the time has come! I hardly can't wait to see this band live. Actually, I must confess I'm a little bit nervous for this gig. I think it's gonna be one of the best concerts I've ever been to. I think I might have to cry and they will blow me away!
Number 2 is on November 14, in the HMH Amsterdam. I'm talking ofcourse about Elbow! This British band will perform for a sold out audience and play there beautiful songs. I love Elbow, it's so magnetic! Alternative music in a special way. "The Seldom Seen Kid" is one of my favorite albums and when I saw them on Pinkpop and Lowlands this year, I was sold! And what also makes this concert special is that I'm going with my dad (for the first time) so that's cool :)
And last but not least (we also have gigs in December but I will blog about that later) Number 3: Okkervil River. From Denmark to the UK to Austin Texas USA. November 24 (MY BIRTHDAY!) also in Haarlem. My sister came to me a few months ago and said: 'Lisa, you're not gonna believe this! Okkervil River is coming to Holland!' Me: 'What? No, that's impossible! Nobody knows Okkervil River here!' She: 'No, it's true! Do you wanna know when and where they come?' Me: 'Eh, yeah ofcourse!' She: 'Don't fall of your chair.. they're coming to Haarlem on your birthday.' Me: 'WHAT?! No way!' But she was right. 2 years ago my dad came to me and said: 'If you like A Balladeer, you definetely gonna like this!' And he gave me "The Stage Names". And also this time I was completely sold! What a great music, that voice.. I've never heard something like this! And now, we are 2 years later and I'm gonna see 3 of my favorite bands live in 1 month. It's insane!
But like I said, it's also the last month of my internship at Sanoma Media. Too bad it's done because I liked it there so much! What a great company with nice people and cool projects. I'm really gonna miss it! But I'm trying to come back and do also my last internship there (but how that will end..)
And the last thing I'm gonna say and then I'm ending this blog, I will visit some schools where I will go to when I'm done with my study. One school in Utrecht, one in Zwolle.. and I'm celebrating my birthday on a Sunday instead of a Saturday.. for the variety :)
So.. I have a lot of plans for this month! What about you? Is it also gonna be a crazy month for you? Or are you gonna celebrate Thanksgiving and relax during the weekends and after school/work? I wish you all a lovely month and see you soon! (I will make reports from all the gigs!)

Inside Design #1: Wedgewood
Welcome to my new monthly column (next to BOTM and AOTM) called: Inside Design! A sneak peek of the interior design and architecture of houses or apartments, in the make or finished and for sale.
We start in North Vancouver (Canada). This house has 3-4 bedrooms and is located in Lynnmour, close to the waters of Lynn Creek. It has everything you want for your home, a warm floor, an expended kitchen and a double-car garage. The furniture is contemporary and luxurious and there's a cosy fireplace where you can completely relax after a long day.
