AOTM #3: Colourful Apartment in NYC

That was long time ago, but I just found a great candidate for a new: "Apartment Of The Month". I'll take you to Manhattan were Claiborne Swanson just decorated her first apartment, which looks pretty good, don't you think?

Before Claiborne Swanson Frank moved in her husband's apartment, it was a dead end story. All the rooms were empty and there was no decoration or furnishings. "That has to change right now!", she said. She didn't it all by herself but got help by her mother in law. They went to several stores and worked with great materials and heavy colours. Now she's more than happy with the result.

I find it a light and cosy apartment with lots of accessories (paintings, flowers etc.) And I like the colour accents in the pillows and rugs. When I look at her clothes I can imagine that she's pretty comfortable in living here. It reflects her tastes and who she is.

Window seats

I always see it on tv in American programs: Window seats. Something we're not familiar with, here in Holland. Something I don't get. I mean, it's such a nice extra for your room! You can decorate it how you want to and buy as many as pillows as you like. That to create your ideal cosy space to relax and watching people ;-) I found these nice pics which gave me an inspiration boost! Maybe some old houses in Amsterdam does have a window seat, so if you're a lucky bastard who's got one.. be glad you've got one! Trade? :)

AOTM #2: French Flat

Hello!

Get ready for a new Apartment Of The Month! This time we're in NW London. I'll show you a charming and cosy house. The bedroom has a cool detail (a sort of hole in the wall) and the rest of the house is very well finished. I also like the colours, it's daring to use black that much. But it's not making all the rooms darker, indeed, it gives an edgy alluring feeling. I love it, I want to buy it, I want to live in it! What about you? Don't tell me I'm the only one with those feelings! ;-)

Inside Design #1: Wedgewood

Welcome to my new monthly column (next to BOTM and AOTM) called: Inside Design! A sneak peek of the interior design and architecture of houses or apartments, in the make or finished and for sale.

We start in North Vancouver (Canada). This house has 3-4 bedrooms and is located in Lynnmour, close to the waters of Lynn Creek. It has everything you want for your home, a warm floor, an expended kitchen and a double-car garage. The furniture is contemporary and luxurious and there's a cosy fireplace where you can completely relax after a long day.
